Dr. Joe Jordan

Dr. Joe Jordan, MB BCh BAO, MRCPI, MICGP, FFSEM, Consultant Sports and Exercise Medicine Physician, hails from Blarney and is a graduate of Medicine from University College Cork. An avid sportsman himself, he has represented Cork in all grades in hurling from U14 to Senior and is an All-Ireland Intermediate medal winner with Cork in 2009 and a Fitzgibbon Cup winner with U.C.C. in the same year.

He completed Basic Specialist Training in General Medicine, in addition to specialist training in General Practice. He undertook a Master’s in Sports and Exercise Medicine at U.C.C., graduating with a First Class Honours in 2018. He then went on to complete the Faculty of Sports & Exercise Medicine Higher Specialist Training programme and graduated as a Fellow of the Faculty in 2021.

He previously held a post as Consultant in Sports and Exercise Medicine in the Sports Surgery Clinic, Santry, Dublin, before joining Professor Falvey’s clinic in Cork. Dr Jordan has extensive experience working as a team doctor in both team and individual athlete sports, including GAA, rugby, soccer, hockey, and athletics. He was the Team Doctor to Dublin Senior and U-20 Hurling Teams and, most recently, provided match-day doctor cover to the Connacht Senior Rugby team. He is a lecturer and module co-ordinator on the MMedSc Sports and Exercise Medicine programme at University College Cork and is a member of the board of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine.

He has a specialist interest in the accurate diagnosis and management of acute and chronic tendon and muscle injuries. He also provides an ultrasound-guided injection service.
